Stanford Materials Research Society (MRS) is both the representative student body group for the Department of Materials Science and Engineering and a university chapter of the international Materials Research Society. Our mission is to create and foster a vibrant and fostering community for the graduate students within the Department. As part of our mission, we hold a wide range of events including prospective student visit weekend, Lunch with Professors, professional development seminars, and numerous social events throughout the year. We also are highly engaged in the broader community through outreach with local elementary and middle schools in the Bay Area as well as through Stanford wide events such as Art of Science.

Stanford MRS is dedicated to excellence and welcomes diversity. Its activities and programs are open to all individuals regardless of race, color, creed, religion, gender, disability, veteran status, sexual preference, or national origin.

Stanford MRS is funded by the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Graduate Student Council, School of Engineering, and industry sponsors. If you have any questions, are interested in any of our events, would like to join, or would like to become a sponsor, please feel free to reach out to anyone on the leadership team. Thank you!
